Where your written proposal and these terms differ, the written proposal signed by both parties takes priority.

2. Surveys and quotations
- Every quotation is based on a survey of your property and on the specification written in your proposal.
- Quotations are valid for 30 days from the date of issue. After that, prices may be reviewed to reflect current material and labour costs.
- All prices are shown excluding VAT unless stated otherwise. VAT is charged at the current rate.
- A contract is formed when you sign and return your proposal and we receive the booking deposit.
- Any work outside the agreed specification will only be carried out once the cost has been agreed with you in writing.
3. Payment terms
Payment stages depend on the type and value of the works. The stages that apply to your job are confirmed in your written proposal.
Type of works | Value (excl. VAT) | Payment stages |
Repair works | Up to £5,000 | 10% booking deposit, 90% on completion |
Re-roofs and larger works | £5,000 to £100,000 | 10% booking deposit, 40% once the scaffold is erected, materials are delivered and work has started on site, 50% on full completion |
Large projects | Over £100,000 | Bespoke payment terms for each job, agreed in writing before works begin |
- Your start date is secured once the booking deposit is received. Dates are offered subject to availability until booked.
- The completion payment is due on the day the works are finished and the property has been fully cleaned.
- Payments are made by bank transfer, using your full name as the payment reference. Our bank details are provided on your proposal and invoices only. We will never change our bank details by email, so please call us on 01505 671020 if you receive a request to pay a different account.
- Stage payments. If a stage payment is not received when due, we may pause the works until it is paid. Any delay this causes will be added to the programme.
- Late payment. If any payment remains unpaid 7 days after it falls due, we may charge interest on the overdue amount at 8% per year above the Bank of England base rate, from the due date until payment is received in full. We may also recover our reasonable costs of collecting the debt. Business customers may also be charged fixed compensation under the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998.
- Guarantee and ownership. All materials remain the property of CP Roofing Solutions Ltd until paid for in full. The workmanship guarantee only starts once the works are paid for in full.
4. Guarantees and warranties
15-year workmanship guarantee. All full re-roofs carried out by CP Roofing Solutions are covered by a 15-year workmanship guarantee, backed by CP Roofing Solutions Ltd. The guarantee starts on the date the works are completed and paid for in full.
100-year slate warranty. Where CUPA Heavy 3 natural slate is supplied and fitted by us, the slate carries a 100-year manufacturer’s warranty from CUPA Pizarras. This warranty is provided by the manufacturer and is subject to CUPA Pizarras’ own terms.
Repair works. Repair works are not covered by a guarantee. Any repair we quote for will fix the water ingress at the area identified, at the time the work is carried out. As we have not renewed the whole roof from start to finish, we cannot guarantee any other part of it.
The workmanship guarantee does not cover:
- damage caused by storms, extreme weather, fire, flooding, falling trees or other events outside our control
- damage caused by third parties, including other trades, aerial or satellite installers, or anyone accessing the roof after completion
- alterations or repairs to the roof carried out by anyone other than CP Roofing Solutions
- normal wear and tear, blocked gutters, moss or debris build-up caused by a lack of routine maintenance
- defects in parts of the building we did not work on
If you believe there is a problem with our work, please contact us as soon as you notice it so we can inspect and put it right. Your statutory rights as a consumer are not affected.
5. Carrying out the works
- Hidden defects. On full re-roofs, our price includes renewal of up to 10% of the sarking boards. If further boards or other hidden defects are found once the roof is stripped, we will show you before any extra work goes ahead and agree any additional cost with you in writing.
- Programme lengths are estimates. We will never open up a section of your roof when rain is forecast, so works may be paused during unsuitable weather to protect your home from water ingress.
- You agree to give us reasonable access to the property, and to the areas needed for scaffolding, skips and welfare facilities, for the duration of the works.
- Unless agreed otherwise, you are responsible for any permissions needed for the works, such as listed building consent, conservation area approval or neighbour access.
- Site and handover. We will keep the site tidy, remove all waste and materials, and leave the property clean on completion.
6. Your right to cancel
If your contract was agreed at your home or at a distance (by phone, email or online), you have the right to cancel within 14 days of the day the contract was formed, without giving a reason. To cancel, contact us by phone or email within that period. We will refund any payment received within 14 days of your cancellation.
If you ask us to start work within the 14-day cancellation period and then cancel, you will pay for the work carried out up to the point you told us you wished to cancel.
If you cancel after the 14-day period, the 10% booking deposit is non-refundable. We may also charge for any further costs already incurred, such as materials ordered for your job, scaffold hire and work completed. These will be deducted from any payments you have made.
7. Insurance and liability
- We hold £10 million employers’ liability and £5 million public liability insurance. Details are available on request and included in every proposal.
- We are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our failure to meet these terms or to use reasonable care and skill.
- Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited by law.
- We are not responsible for delays or failures caused by events outside our reasonable control, including severe weather and material shortages. We will keep you informed and agree a new timescale with you.
8. Complaints
If you are unhappy with any part of our work, please contact Chris Shaw directly on 01505 671020 or at [email protected]. We will respond promptly and do everything we reasonably can to put things right.
